I still have fingerless gloves on the brains. While there are so many beautiful styles out there, I'm a knitter and I know I can create a pair that showcases my personality. So with many encouraging words from you and my do-anything sorority sister and gorgeous blogger Jo Anne, who pointed me to a ton of different patters, I've decided to knit a pair. Jo Anne recommended searching for a pattern on the online knitter's community Ravelry.com and suggested this one called Fetching.
Here is a picture of the fingerless gloves I'm going to be making. I hope to wear them this season.
I ended up spending the day at my favorite knitting store in New York City -- Knitty City. The knitting gurus at this lovely knitting shop on the Upper West Side also mentioned the same Fetching pair. I love the lofty feel of the yarn and the cables lend it textural interest. I'm probably going to knit them a bit longer, so they go higher up my wrist. The web site describes knitting these fingerless glove as close to instant gratification, adding they can be finished in just one weekend.
Here's the yarn I'm using to make my fingerless gloves. It's a lovely shade of celery.
I know Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld is a big fan of fingerless gloves. And he recently put aside rumors he's leaving Chanel. So Karl, I'll be more than happy to knit you a pair to wear down the runway.
Karl Lagerfeld busts out the fingerless gloves.
I can't wait to get started on these. I'll post a picture of them when I'm finished.
I love the idea of a fingerless glove. I think I had them many many years ago, or actually there were fingerless and you could put a cover (attached) which made them like mittens so you can free up your fingers if you needed them....great idea and yes, you can definitely make them!!!
ReplyDeleteJen, you will be wearing them by the weekend. Easy. I don't know how fast you knit, but if it's not this weekend, DEFINITELY next weekend! - Jo
ReplyDeleteThey're really great looking. The DP needles make me a little tense when I knit, but I'd be willing to try it. xoxo Rainie
