Resolve To Get In Financial Shape

Yesterday I told you about my plans to be fit and fabulous for my 40th birthday. Today, I’m going to share with you some amazing steps to help you and I get into financial shape in 2010.

Last year was not a good year for a lot of people financially. It saw many of my friends, myself included, lose their jobs, families struggling to stay afloat, small business owners having to shut their doors and many seemingly solid financial institutions being bailed out with taxpayer money.

The good news is 2010 is a new year. Hopefully it will not be a repeat of 2009 and, as we all know too well, we have no place to go but up. So with the beginning of the new year upon us, now is a great time to start seriously thinking of ways to set some financial goals and to save money. If you set your mind to getting your finances in shape like you are telling me you’re getting your butt in shape, we’re going to be all the richer for it.

I checked out the Women’s Institute for Financial Education (WIFE) for some ideas to get us started. WIFE is the oldest non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial education to women in their quest for financial independence and has an amazingly robust web site filled with useful tips and tricks for us savvy women. You can never be too aware about your financial future. At this point of our lives, we should become aware and involved in where are money is, how to use equity you already have to improve your portfolio and how to save for retirement. It's so important for women to become, and stay, as financially independent as possible.

They featured an interesting article that compares saving your hard earned cash to getting into shape. They said like a personal trainer whips you up into rock star shape, having a personal financial advisor can be the ringleader for your financial fortune. I strongly suggest you read this article here, as well as the many other helpful articles at wife.org.

Also, let me know in the comments if you have any financial tips you wish to share to help us all ensure our fabulous future.
